Compact Updates for 2020-21 School Year

We wanted to let everyone know that currently all four Compact school districts are planning to offer in person learning again for their students beginning in August. That is great news for us as hands on learning is an integral part of what we do on a day-to-day basis.

Right now, each of our districts are working out the details of the virus safety protocols they will use. Social distancing, sanitation, reporting, PPE and other safety precautions are a part of all these plans. More specific to Career Tech Education, we also are looking at industry standards currently being used to keep Ohio workers safe. We've asked our CTE teachers to help form plans to cover any unique needs in their program area and will work to have things ready for the week of August 24th which is slated for the start in all four districts.

We were fortunate to be able to have certain program students participate in on site certification testing over the summer. Our teachers drew up safety plans that were approved first by the Compact Board, and then by the Summit County Health Department. With the help of their teachers, students successfully completed training and earned industry recognized credentials! This helps illustrate the willingness of the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Department of Health and the Governor's Office to acknowledge the unique nature of Career Tech Education and our need for in person learning. This could allow some flexibility for CTE programming if virus conditions change during the coming school year.

Watch for more information both on the Compact Website and on Facebook in the coming weeks. Compact families will receive a formal informational letter in early August with a bus schedule and calendar.  Compact Director Roger Wright will be a radio guest of Ray Horner tomorrow morning, 7/24, at 6:40 AM 1590 AM or 93.5 FM.
